Alpinestars Stock Arriving Weekly Alpinestars The new stock is now arriving from Italy . Following the closure of the stockist at Silverstone we are one of only two Alpinestars stockists in the UK with a large showroom where you can visit and try the suits and boots. Samco Xtraflex Samco have introduced an additional version of the straight flexible hose; Xtraflex. The Xtraflex hose is not ridged (the superflex does have a ridge) and is about 30% more flexible than the superflex. It comes in sizes 8mm to 51mm. We will keep this in stock in blue and the deliveries are now arriving. Stack Instruments - Pro range now in stock - Pro Control coming soon
Up to now only mechanical gauges have been able to offer a needle which moves through a 270 degree arc. Racetech and Caerbont are good examples of this. Stack have now introduced a series of gauges powered by an electrical stepper motor with an arc of movement of 270 degrees. They are available with black dials, white lettering and are back lit. When switched off the lettering and needle is barely discernable, when on the lettering is very easy to read. This Professional range of instruments comes with both the sender and a wiring harness. (no sender on the fuel level gauge) and prices are about £105 for pressure gauges and about £70 for temperature and others. Full details are on our website and we do have stock of this range. The really interesting development is on the Pro-Control range which is about £15 more expensive. The gauges and needles are identical with the Professional range but by the use of two buttons on the front of the gauge the following functions are available and programmable by the user. 1. Peak “tell tale” memory – maximum temperatures, minimum pressures, volts. 2. Programmable maximum and minimum full-dial alarm warnings. 3. Configurable full-dial alarm warning colour; the back lighting changes colour when the set value is reached. Coloured back lighting flashes when alarm values reached. 4. Configurable Pro-Control output for activating accessories eg fans, pumps, etc (requires relay) 5. Temperature gauges come with inbuilt fan controller (requires relay) Deliveries of this range are not due to arrive until the Spring 2009 but Stack do seem to have made some very interesting developments which may make installation simpler and save money on buying separate fan controllers or warning lamps. Unfortunately for historic people (or even people with historic cars) the gauges are not available with Chrome bezels. The Professional range is available with white dials but the Pro-Control range is black face only. The ultimate tuning aid is the Wideband Lambda Air/Fuel Gauge ; within a few days of its introduction we have supplied 3 already. Dual digital and radial LED displays provide accurate real time readout of either air/fuel ratio or Lambda (user-selectable). Like most Stack gauges it comes complete and includes a Bosch sensor and wiring harness. Stack have also introduced a range of conventional electric and mechanical gauges equivalent to the VDO and Racetech ranges. Odyssey Extreme Racing now in Stock The stock of Enersys Odyssey Extreme Racing batteries has now arrived. Lower retail prices than the DMS and back to the original style and manufacturer. Can you smell Petrol in your race car? There can be a problem of a strong petrol smell inside some competition cars. The Goodridge 200 series hose is ideal for fuel but there is some vapour transfer (not a leak) which can give rise to the smell. The solution is to use either hard line (which can be quite difficult to fit) or use Goodridge 811 series hose . The 811 series is light weight and impervious to vapour. The unions have the normal -6 threads so are compatible. Often engine bay connections are made in 200 series hose with the well known and liked red and blue fittings, the run from the front bulkhead to the boot in 811 hose, and back to 200 hose to plumb the pumps and tank. Alpinestars GP2 race suits at great prices We still have a good range of Alpinestars GP2 race suits in stock but they have been very popular and are selling out quickly. Lifeline Fire Systems Two of the staff have just returned from a training course at Lifeline on servicing and refilling the Zero 2000 range of extinguishers. We can now service at Castle Combe Lifeline systems, the mechanical while you wait (during the week) but the electrical takes a day or so. This is a very useful addition to our range as at Castle Combe we can now service both SPA and Lifeline systems . |
