TOP TIP - Heat Protection
 Aluminium Glass cloth has been used for many years, it is
a closely woven glass cloth with an 11 micro thick laminated aluminium
foil. It’s for continuous use up to 150 degrees C and the base cloth will
withstand 550 degrees C. We supply in pre-cut lengths but as it comes to us in a
1 metre wide roll, 50 metres in length, we can supply at any length required 1
metre wide.
The Ally Glass
cloth can be stuck with contact
adhesive to bulkheads, it can be wrapped round components and held in place
with lock
wire
or it can be wrapped round oil pipes or brake lines.
 The Ally
Glass cloth can also be supplied as a stitched tube (Thermal
Sleeve)
1 metre long with bores of 20mm, 30mm and 50mm. Hose can be threaded inside
the sleeve.
 For
oil lines and brake pipes there is glass
woven tubing available
coated with a layer of self extinguishing silicone rubber. Temperature
resistance is -70 degrees C to 265 degrees C. This is available in inner
diameters of 10mm and 25mm, it is sold by the metre but can be supplied in
continuous lengths.
 Where a rigid heat barrier is needed, for example around
a turbo charger, Aerotech
heat shield
is ideal. The Nimbus G11 is a two layer
aluminium sheet, crinkled together to give a final thickness of 5.25mm. The
unique construction has strength with low weight and is easily formed into
complex shapes. It is available in sheets 30 cm x 30 cm and 30 cm x 60
cm.A similar sheet Cirrus G111x is the same principal but
sandwiched between two aluminised steel layers is a layer of synthetic fibre
insert to give a greater thermal barrier.
TECHNICAL CORNER - Goodridge Braided Hoses
 At our Merlin headquarters, at the Castle Combe Circuit,
we also have the Goodridge
Technical Workshop
. We often assemble hoses here to customer
specification. To make sure that you only pay for the hose you actually need we
sell all Goodridge hose in 10cm multiples.
We offer free cutting of any hose purchased and free assembly of lines
(excluding swaged). We turn around orders as quickly as possible and more
often than not within 24 hours – or even while you wait if you’re able to call
in (depending on our workshop load on the day).
If you’re in any doubt as to the unions and runs you need speak to us, we can
sell you the unions, you trial assemble the unions on the car and plumb in with
garden or any cheap hose to get the lengths correct and then send back and we
will make them up for you at our Goodridge workshop.
If you want to assemble yourself, provide us with a list of lengths and we
will cut cleanly on our hose cutter so that you will be able to assemble the
unions more easily.

DELIVERY NEWS – POSTAL DELAYS
Our experience with post at this present time is variable, some parts of the
country seem to be operating as normal and in other parts goods are and have
been delayed. Special Delivery Items in the main are working as they should
do.
If you urgently need parts the best choice for delivery is a carrier on the
next working day service. You can make your choice of delivery method at the
time of purchase from Merlin (when purchasing over the phone or online). We use
both DPD and Parcel force and the cost for up to 30kg is the same with both
services £8.25 + vat - just let us know which service would you prefer.
We have full customer tracking on 99% of parcels we send. If you let us know
your email address we will email you the tracking number when your goods have
been dispatched, we’ll also give you a direct link to track your parcel through
the carriers own website.
You choose your preferred courier
On the Merlin website where possible we now give you the
option to choose which courier you would prefer to deliver your order (you can
also request courier options on the phone). We know from customer feedback that
some couriers are better in some areas than others. We know that this will help
to make many customers shopping experiences better.
