Speed sensor kit. Consists of the sensor itself and 6 magnets. The principle of operation of the sensor is that it generates an electronic pulse each time a magnet passes the sensor probe, and transmits that pulse to the electronic speedo. The first task is to fix the magnets to the desired location, which may be directly on to the propshaft, onto the half shaft or onto the inner surface of the vehicle wheel. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned before sticking the magnets to the surface, using a good quality epoxy resin. The magnets should be equally spaced around the rotating shaft or wheel. For prop shaft and half shaft applications 3 or 4 magnets are recommended. For wheel based applications up to 6 magnets may be used to increase the number of pulses per revolution. The sensor can then be positioned as close as possible to the magnets, using a suitable bracket.
